New York Bagel & Deli is a straightforward bagel shop nestled in a small strip mall on National Blvd in Los Angeles, catering mainly to locals looking for authentic New York–style bagels and hearty deli sandwiches. It’s the kind of spot you’d come to when you want a solid, no-frills breakfast or lunch that leans on classic deli traditions rather than trendy reinventions.

The shop stands out for its in-house made bagels, which capture that familiar chewy texture and slightly toasted crust that New Yorkers expect. If you’re after something close to home, their everything bagel with lox spread or the Bagel Boy with cream cheese and sliced avocado offer a filling, approachable start to the day. Breakfast sandwiches like the egg on a bagel or bacon, egg, and cheese options fit well into quick mornings for commuters or anyone grabbing a meal on the go.

The atmosphere is casual and efficient with a friendly staff that moves service along quickly, making it easy to pick up orders before heading into work or after a morning walk. Plenty of free parking just out front adds to the convenience, especially during early hours when the downtown LA rush hasn’t yet kicked in. While the location is utilitarian—a strip mall spot rather than a bustling hub—it functions well as a local staple for digestible bites and good deli meat options like Boar’s Head.

This place feels most suited for those who want a straightforward, filling meal without the fuss: office workers grabbing breakfast sandwiches, locals seeking a midday bagel fix, or small teams ordering coffee boxes and deli platters. The presence of black & white cookies and some standout cookie treats adds a touch of old-school New York bakery comfort for afternoon pick-me-ups.

Expect a spot that focuses on dependable quality and familiarity rather than a dining experience to linger over. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are ideal times to avoid crowds and get in and out quickly. It’s the kind of shop where the bagel is the star, paired with polite, fast service and enough variety to satisfy traditionalist New Yorkers and curious Angelenos alike.

Fantastic give me 14 of them. But seriously this place is no joke. Coming from someone that lived in NYC, that’s saying something. Pictured an everything bagel lox sandwich with lox spread. AKA, the holy trinity of carbs, fish, and cream cheese.

Stopped in for my first time for breakfast yesterday and it won’t be the last time. Everything was really good and the staff was very polite. It’s also located in a small strip mall that has plenty of free parking right out front. I especially like how they have Boar’s Head meats available as well as a lot of great drink options. Service was very fast and the whole staff was very friendly. It’s fairly small on the inside, so this is not the sort of place that you will sit down and eat inside, it’s more for to go orders. They have a good amount of bagel options as well as breakfast and lunch sandwich options. As mentioned, they have a lot of different Boar’s Head meat selections, as well as a good amount of cream cheese options. For my first visit, I chose one of their breakfast sandwiches, the sausage, cheese, and egg and enjoyed it. I also tried one of their everything bagels with just cream cheese and would say I enjoyed that even more and would definitely recommend either or both. I plan to be back in the future to try more items and would recommend to anyone in the area.

NOTE: 75 cents surcharge for entrees containing eggs due to the egg shortage Budget lunch options in Sawtelle are hard to come by. At NY Bagel and Deli, you can get a good old fashion new york style bagel for less than $10 (including an add on and the egg surcharge). Their bagels seemed to be made in house. I found their everything bagel to be delicious! It was very filling as well. I came later around 1pm and they ran out of hashbrowns. Hoping they have hashbrowns the next time I visit!

Reason for visiting: pick up a couple of bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches; one regular bagel and one poppy seed bagel Date/time of visit: Wednesday morning, ~7:00 AM Parking: in the adjacent lot; free. No street parking but if you come early there's parking Party size: 1 Environment/ambience: cool vibe; all different kinds of bagels and breakfast items. No regular buns, only bagels. They have Boar's head meat and lox too. All breakfast sandwiches are made to order. Easy to get in and out if you get there early; you can order ahead too Service: was great; the guys were awesome. Funny too. Food: had 2 bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches. 1 lb of chocolate Macarons. Everything was great; breakfast sandwich was great and macarons tasted fresh. I'm not a coconut fan but the cookie was still good. 1 lb is roughly 6-7 cookies. Cost: 2 breakfast sandwiches and 1 lb of Macarons, $37.95. Would I go back (yes/no): 100/0

Thank you to NY Bagel & Deli for taking on a huge order for my team! Everyone including myself absolutely loved the black & white cookies. Also - these bad boys were massive and lived up to their tasty appearance! Hand for scale lol Thank you Rocky and team! Ann’s a big thank you for throughout in some coconut macaroons which were honestly the BEST thing I’ve ever tasted! I’ll definitely be coming back for myself as well :)

Bialys! They actually have real-looking bialys! Every other place in LA that claims to offer them are just selling rolls with some onions and poppyseeds on top. But these are the real thing! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and service was fast. Only other thing I could mention is that this is a morning & noon place. They close at 3 on weekdays and 4 on weekends, but they open super early.

Was visiting from Italy as an expat and needed a good bagel to satisfy my craving. I came here and was more than satisfied. I got excited and ordered it all and nothing disappointed. The bagels, cream cheese, bacon egg and cheese, coffee, and the variety of flavors were all a home run. The service was fantastic and the all the workers were extremely nice making the experience 5 stars!

New York Bagels and Deli in Mar Vista is an absolute gem! The bagels are delicious, fresh baked, and perfectly chewy, just like a classic New York bagel should be. The deli and sandwiches to go are always made fresh, loaded with quality ingredients, and taste amazing every time. The friendly staff makes the experience even better, fast, welcoming, and always happy to help. Plus, great parking makes stopping in super easy, whether you’re grabbing breakfast or lunch on the go (specially with children). If you’re craving fresh baked bagels, a top-notch deli, or incredible sandwiches to go, this is the place. Highly recommend! The tuna and whitefish salads are bomb as well!
